ITHACA, N.Y. -- Nazareth juniors Gannon Connors and Alex LaPoint each won individual titles Saturday as the Golden Flyers' swimming and diving teams continued to excel at the Bomber Invitational at Ithaca College's Aquatics Pavilion.

After winning the 200-yard IM Friday, LaPoint returned to the pool Saturday morning to take first-place honors in the 400 IM. Among the highlights in the evening session was a first-place finish for Connors in the 100 backstroke in addition to a pair of school records.

Nazareth's men's team was in fifth place in the nine-team event with 534 points. Geneseo leads the way with 1254 points. In the women's competition, Nazareth stands in seventh place with 425.5 points. Geneseo is first with 1090.5, followed closely by Ithaca with 1062.

LaPoint's win came in a time of 4:05.01, less than a second behind his own school record of 4:04.32 that was set last season. Connors also was close to a school record in the 100 back as his time of :51.86 was just over a second off the Nazareth record of :50.49 set last season by Dan Burke.

Also during the evening session, LaPoint broke a 14-year-old school record with a fourth-place finish in the 200 butterfly. He was clocked in 1:55.64, a couple of ticks faster than Josh Nellist's record of 1:55.89 from 2002. Nazareth also placed third in the 800-yard freestyle relay as the foursome of LaPoint, Andrew Battaglia, Robert Draper and Matt Leverich were clocked in a school-record time of 7:04.96, breaking the previous mark of 7:05.16 from 2015.
