Four Corvias ECAC Athletes of the Week

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Players of the Week for the week of play ending Jan. 15 and four Empire 8 student-athletes have been recognized.
 
Men’s Basketball – North
Rookie of the Week
Cody Green – Nazareth College, Fr., G

 
Green averaged 16 points (10-for-22) and five rebounds in a 2-0 week for Nazareth. He drained four-of-nine three-pointers for 12 points in an 82-72 win over Utica. The rookie notched a career-high 20 points against Ithaca on Saturday, including going five-of-10 from three-point range. He also had a career-high eight rebounds.
 
Men’s Indoor T&F – North
Track Athlete of the Week
Peter Girardi – St. John Fisher College, Jr.

 
Girardi placed first in the 400-meter race with a time 50.12, setting a new facility record and qualifying him for the ECAC meet. In the 200-meter dash, Girardi was the runner up, setting a personal record of 22.64. Finally, he teamed up with three of his teammates to take first in the 4x200-meter relay, clocking in at 1:32.62, another ECAC qualifying time.
 
Men’s Indoor T&F – North
Rookie of the Week
Clarence Skipper – Utica College, Fr.

 
Skipper took home a third-place finish in the long jump as he posted a season-best distance of 6.41 meters at the Pioneer Invitational. He also won the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.94 meters. Skipper’s mark in the triple jump has him tied for fourteenth in the nation.
 
Women’s Indoor T&F – North
Field Athlete of the Week
Katherine Pitman – Ithaca College, Sr.

 
Pitman tied her own school record of 4.15 meters (13 feet, 7.25 meters) in the pole vault to best the field by two-feet, six-inches at the Ramapo Season Opener.
