Ithaca Ranked No. 4 by USILA; Stevens and Naz Receiving Votes
Division III rankings
The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team is ranked fourth in the 2017 USILA/Nike Division III preseason Coaches Poll. Nazareth College and Stevens Institute of Technology are among 12 teams also receiving votes.
Ithaca is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2016. The Bombers went 20-2 a season ago, which included an Empire 8 Championship and a trip to the Quarterfinal Round of the Division III NCAA Tournament. IC should once again field one of the explosive teams in the country, as it returns three USILA All-American honorees at attack in rising seniors
John Januszkiewicz and
Jack Shumway, as well as rising junior
Jake Cotton. The trio combined for 241 points on 149 goals and 92 assists last year. Although the defense experienced some attrition due to graduation, it does bring back rising junior
Winston Wenham who was also a USILA All-American honoree last season.
Stevens is looking to build upon a 14-win campaign in 2016, its most since 2013, in which it reached the title game of the Empire 8 Conference Championship.
Nazareth was 12-6 a year ago and made its eighth straight appearance in the E8 Tournament.
