Ithaca Checks in at No. 2 in Inside Lacrosse’s 2017 Face-Off Yearbook Rankings
Inside Lacrosse Preseason Rankings
BALTIMORE, Md. – With the start of preseason practices just under three weeks away, the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team once again enters the new year with major aspirations in 2017. Respected lacrosse publication, Inside Lacrosse, also is high on the Bombers as IC checks in as the second-ranked team in the media outlet's 2017 Face-Off Yearbook now available for purchase.
Ithaca is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2016. The Bombers went 20-2 a season ago, which included an Empire 8 Championship and a trip to the Quarterfinal Round of the Division III NCAA Tournament. IC should once again field one of the explosive teams in the country, as it returns three USILA All-American honorees at attack in rising seniors
John Januszkiewicz and
Jack Shumway, as well as rising junior
Jake Cotton. The trio combined for 241 points on 149 goals and 92 assists last year. Although the defense experienced some attrition due to graduation, it does bring back rising junior
Winston Wenham who was also a USILA All-American honoree last season.
The Face-Off Yearbook features previews of all 71 NCAA Division I programs, preseason All-Americans, as well as NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and JUCO preseason rankings and player analysis. The outlet has also added an expanded women's section, nearly double the size of previous installments of the publication.
