Four E8 Players Selected to DIII Senior Game

Four Empire 8 field hockey student-athletes have been selected to participate in the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Senior Game.

Hartwick's Claudia Stone, St. John Fisher College's Emily Markarian, Stevens Institute of Technology's Victoria Alvarez and Utica's Samantha Whitehouse are four of 72 of the nation's top seniors to earn the honor of competing at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY on Saturday, November 18th at 5 p.m. 
           
The contest will take place during the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament's "Final Four" weekend. The semifinals will take place on Nov. 17 at 4 and 7 p.m. at Bellarmine with the championship to follow on Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. at the University of Louisville.

Stone currently leads the Hawks in goals (8) and points (22). She is tied for the top spot in assists with six. In the Empire 8, Stone is tied for third in the league in assists and sixth in both points and goals.

Markarian leads the team and ranks second overall in the Empire 8 Conference in goals (17) and total points (37).  Markarian has taken a team-leading 81 shots, 52 of which have been on goal and, over the course of 14 starts, has registered 11 games with at least two points.

Alvarez currently leads the Empire 8 with 18 goals and 38 points. She is ranked No. 6 and No. 8 across all of Division III in those same categories.
 
Whitehouse currently ranks second in the conference with a .805 save percentage and an average of 9.23 saves per game. She is currently third on the College's all-time list with 334 career saves.  Her seven shutouts also rank fourth all-time at UC.
