Seybolt Breaks School Career Point Record
Alfred, NY- Sage's men's soccer team travelled to Alfred University on Saturday night in an Empire 8 match-up. After playing to a scoreless first half tie, Sage's junior forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) collected two second half goals to lift Sage to the 2-0 win over the Saxons. In the process, Seybolt also added his name to the Sage career point record after already breaking the all-time career goal record on Wednesday. Sage improves to 8-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Empire 8. By night's end, Seybolt had five points after adding two goals and an assist.
Seybolt scored the first goal of the contest at 47:18 on a penalty kick. He added his second goal of the match at 78:28 and in the process broke the all-time point mark at Sage. For the week, Seybolt scored three goals and an assist and now has 14 goals this fall and a team-best 31 points. He surpassed the Sage career point mark, which was 82 points and was held by Gustavo Trinidad (2011-2014) on 25 goals and 32 assists. Seybolt has 65 points on 38 goals with 10 assists, including a program-best 13 career game-winning goals.
In the final minutes of play, rookie Griffin Goodmote (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) score at the 88:44 mark on a pass from Seybolt, putting Sage up 3-0.
Sage's junior keeper Michael Chiaravalloti's (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott) picked up five saves in the match to earn the win and has helped the Gators now collect five shutouts this fall.
