Utica Wins WXC Title; Stinson Individual Champion

RESULTS

The Utica College women's cross country team raced to a first-place finish Saturday, Oct. 28 at the 2017 Empire 8 Cross Country Championship hosted at Parkview Fairways in Victor, NY. The Pioneers tallied 29 points to claim its first conference championship title.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Stinson was the individual top finisher with a winning time of 23:55.4 and finished 28 seconds ahead of runner-up teammate Makenna Cooley (24:23.8). 

Stevens Instititute of Technology placed second as a team with 46 points, led by sophomore Brea Veilleux who placed third in a time of 24:26.4. 

St. John Fisher placed third in the team standings with 88 points, followed by Houghton (95), Nazareth College (125), Houghton (161), Sage (163), Elmira (208) and Hartwick (221). Alfred University had two runners compete but not enough to compile a team score.

Utica freshman Jessica Ostrowski finished fourth in 24:29.1 and Houghton sophomore Shelby Langlois came in fifth overall with a time of 24:36.2.
