Quick Facts on 2017 E8 Women's Soccer Tournament

The 2017 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Women's Soccer Tournament will feature four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The playoffs begin Friday, Nov. 3 with two semifinal matches and the Championship will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4 on the campus of Hartwick College on Elmore Field.

- The Empire 8 will employ a four team tournament format for the 16th straight year. Prior to the 2002 tournament, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
- Hartwick is participating in its second straight tournament and third overall.
- Nazareth has qualified for the tournament every year.
- Stevens has qualified for every tournament since joining the conference in 2007-08.
- Alfred is participating it is first ever E8 tournament.
- There have been co-champions six times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2012 and 2014) and everytime it was Ithaca and Nazareth. The two teams then had to do a PK shootout to determine the NCAA automatic qualifier which Ithaca winning four times and Nazareth twice.
- There have been 13 overtime games throughout the history of the tournament.
- The #1 seed is 14-1 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (10-5), #3 seed (5-10), #4 seed (1-14).
- The #1 seed has won or tied the conference championship 13 times.
- The #2 seed has tied the title five times but never won outright.
- The #3 seed has won the title once and tied for the title once.
- The #4 seed won the title once in 2006
- This is Hartwick's first time serving as the #1 seed. The Hawks were previously the #4 seed in 2002 and 2016.
- Hartwick has never advanced to the E8 title game.
- Nazareth advanced to the championship game every year from 2002-2014, but missed out on the last two title games.
- Nazareth is 12-8-8 in tournament games, including a 1-6-6 mark in the title game.
- Stevens is 8-4-2 in E8 tournament games, including a 4-0 mark in the title game (2010, 2011, 2015, 2016).
- Hartwick was also the No. 4 seed in 2002 and they fell to Ithaca 4-0 in its only postseason game.
- Hartwick has never Alfred and Nazareth in the tournament. The Ducks are 1-0 against Hartwick and 2-2-2 against Nazareth in the postseason.
