HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 6, 2017) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team will head to Potsdam, New York for the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship Potsdam regional, hosted by Clarkson University. The Ducks will face United States Merchant Marine Academy in the first round. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10.
"We can't wait to head to Clarkson for the NCAAs," head coach
Annie McShea said. "The preparation for Merchant Marine begins right now. The girls are focused and prepared to make a deep run this year and we're hoping to do that one match at a time."
The Ducks reached the national championship after winning their fifth Empire 8 Conference championship Sunday afternoon. Stevens has reached the NCAA Tournament in two consecutive seasons.
Since the 2002 season, Stevens and Merchant Marine have played three times, with the Ducks sweeping all three matches.
The trip to Clarkson is a coaching homecoming for McShea, who spent two seasons as an assistant with the Golden Knights, helping guide the team to a perfect 24-0 record in the Liberty League during her tenure in Potsdam.
Should Stevens advance, the Ducks could take on a very familiar opponent in the second round if Ithaca College is able to get past Endicott College in the opening round. On the other half of the bracket for the Potsdam regional, hosting Clarkson takes on Morrisville State and Babson matches up with Vassar.
