– Senior Anna Marcy of the St. John Fisher College women's volleyball team has been selected as a Second Team Academic All-American honoree for her educational excellence as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. The Penfield native is the first women's volleyball student-athlete in Fisher history to be named an Academic All-American and marks the 20th overall selection the department has earned dating back to 1983.

Marcy, who is the first Fisher student-athlete to receive the distinction since 2014, is a nursing major who has carried a 3.92 overall GPA throughout her four-year career in a Cardinals' uniform. Eighteen of the 23 members of the 2017-18 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III volleyball teams have at least a 3.90 GPA.

Aside from her work academically, Marcy finished her time at Fisher as one of the most decorated student-athletes in program history. She ranks second all-time in career kills with 1,307 and capped off her senior season by being named the Empire 8 Conference Co-Player of the Year and First Team All- Conference.  The Penfield native finished the 2017 season with team highs in kills (383), attempts (1,016), service aces (56), total blocks (53.0), and points (470) as the Cardinals earned the third overall seed in the Empire 8 Championship.

With Marcy in the lineup, Fisher posted its best season in nearly two decades as head coach Kelly Greapentrog's squad compiled a 22-9 overall record including a 6-2 mark in conference play.  The team's .750 winning percentage is its highest since 1993 when the Cardinals posted a 35-12 overall record (.744).
