BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport football team wrapped up its season last Saturday, but awards continue to pour in for the 13-1 Golden Eagles. Seniors Jake O'Connell and Adan Barrientos were each honored with selections to the Associated Press (AP) Division III All-America Team.

2017 marks the first season that the AP has separated its All-America teams into Divisions II, III, and NAIA, having previously grouped the three divisions into the "AP Little All-America Teams". The two Golden Eagles selected were both instrumental pieces to the deepest post-season run in program history capped off by a trip to the NCAA Final Four.

O'Connell was named a pre-season All-American by D3Football.com prior to the 2017 season, and backed that up to the tune of seven interceptions, three of which were returned for touchdowns. He also recorded 56 tackles, and broke up eight passes on his way to First Team All-Empire 8 and All-East Region selections.

Barrientos anchored an offensive line that helped the Golden Eagle offense break records for rushing yards, passing yards, total offense, and scoring in a single season. The line was honored by D3Football.com on the National Team of the Week during 2017. Barrientos was not only a First-Team All-Empire 8 selection, but was voted the top offensive linemen in the conference by seven of the eight voting coaches. He was also named to the First Team All-East Region.

The 2017 AP Division III All-America teams were voted on by a panel of Sports Information Directors from across the country.
