UTICA, NY -- The Utica College women's basketball team raised $1,178 on Saturday as the Pioneers hosted the 6th annual "Game for Brooks Miles" against Misericordia.  This year's proceeds will benefit the Gram Lorraine Children's Program.  The program provides children in the Mohawk Valley with four items of clothing, including a winter jacket, and a toy, book or a game during the holiday season and beyond.

To date, the UC women's basketball team has raised a total of $6,458.75 for local groups and children including Grady's Way, The 21 Club of CNY, Faxton- St. Luke's Miracle Network, Kendall McNamara, Lena Dorsagno and the Gram Lorraine Children's Program.

Brooks Miles Rorick, son of Greg Rorick '98 and Angela Rorick, passed away from heart complications shortly after he was born on April 1, 2008. Greg, a local podiatrist and Utica College Alum, and his wife Angela are cousins of UC Women's Basketball Head Coach Michele Davis.  Coach Davis is the godmother to Brooks' brother, Cooper Rorick. Together with the Rorick's, Coach Davis thought up the idea for this charitable game in the summer of 2012.

At Saturday's game, the Pioneers held a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle and accepted donations.  UC also pulled out the 70-68 win against the Cougars, improving to 3-3 on the season. Utica's Ashelyne Babb recorded a season-high 24 points to go with five assists and three steals. Ashley Mayo and Briannah Florian also tallied season-high scoring totals, as both players poured in 17 points.

Utica returns to action on the road Saturday at cross-town rival SUNY Poly when the Pioneers take on the Wildcats at 2 p.m.
