USTFCCA Team Release

NEW ORLEANS, La. (February 9, 2017)
 – Stevens Institute of Technology senior runner Amy Regan was named the NCAA Division III Female Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2016 cross country season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Thursday, February 9.

Regan maintained a 3.58 GPA in Engineering Management and went a perfect 7-0 during the 2016 season, culminating with the Green Brook, New Jersey native's second career individual NCAA Cross Country title. This is the second career USTFCCCA XC Scholar Athlete of the Year Award for Regan, who previously was honored following the 2014 season after winning her first NCAA title. The senior was also named the NCAA Division III Women's Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2014

"The term scholar-athlete sometimes replaces student-athlete at Stevens because of how academically focused and driven our students are while pursuing athletics at the highest level," head coach Justin Wood commented. "Appropriately, the honor of USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete of the Year really defines Amy's outstanding fall semester. She managed an extremely challenging academic workload while training 80 miles a week, went undefeated in all of her races culminating in a national championship and lead the women's cross country team to their most successful season in program history."
