Day 3 Results

The Empire 8 men's swimming and diving teams wrapped up day three Friday night at the 2017 Empire 8 Conference Championship in Ithaca, NY.

The 200 Butterfly finals got things started on the night with Ithaca sophomore Jake Hewitt taking the title. He swam to a B-cut winning time of 1:52.54, edging out Stevens Institute of Technology's junior Brennan Mawell (1:53.06 B-cut) and Hartwick senior Brendan Quinn (1:53.09 B-cut).

Stevens' Ethan Gehenio, who placed third at last season's championhip in the 100 backstroke, claimed top honors this season with a 50.78. Alfred's Andrew Edmister took second (52.03) to edge out Nazareth's Gannon Connors (52.32).

A Duck took the top positions in the 100 Breaststroke for the fifth straight year. Freshman Tyler Zanki won the title in 57.26, while Ithaca freshman Andrew Mikhailichenko was second in 58.06. 

The final event of the night was the 800 Freestyle Relay. 

The championships wrap up tomorrow with the prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals slated to begin at 6 p.m.
