UTICA, NY -- On February 14th, the Utica College women's basketball team hosted a "UC Hoops Cares" event during the Pioneers' games against Ithaca College.

The event raised $1,153 for local resident Erin Pratt who is currently battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Pratt was diagnosed on June 28, 2015 with AML, she received chemotherapy, and went into remission. The Leukemia came back and she had a stem cell transplant with her sister Katy on May 26, 2016. Erin relapsed in November and again began treatment right away. As of January 5, 2017 she is in remission.

In order to raise funds the Pioneers hosted a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle, and a raffle for a commemorative pink game ball signed by the 2011-2012 Syracuse University men's basketball team.

Earlier this season the Pioneers hosted its annual "A Game for Brooks Miles" event and raised a total of $1,055 and donated those funds to "Grady's Way", a division of Catholic Charities.

Congratulations to the Pioneers who raised over $2,000 this season to make an impact on the local community!
