Women's Basketball Tournament Quick Facts
The 2016-2017 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Women's Basketball Playoff field has been set, with four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. The playoffs begin Friday, February 24, with Stevens Institute of Technology hosting the two-day tournament for the second straight year.

Before the action begins, here are some quick facts you should know about the conference tournament. (
*Quick facts will be based on the current tournament format years 2004-2017).
The Empire 8 will employ a four-team tournament format for the 14
th straight year. Prior to the 2004 tournament, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
Three of the four teams that qualified for the 2016 E8 Tournament return again this year.
Seven E8 tournaments have played out according to seeding (2004, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016).
The #1 seed is 13-0 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (9-4), #3 seed (4-9), #4 seed (0-13).
The #4 seed has never advanced to the championship game.
The #3 seed has won the title four times (2008, 2009, 2010, 2015).
The #2 seed has won the title twice (2007, 2011).
The #1 seed won the title seven times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016).
2017 marks the third time that Stevens will serve as the number one seed. The Ducks were hosts in 2008 and 2016.
Stevens has made the E8 tournament each year since joining the conference in in 2007-08. The Ducks have advanced to the title game four times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2016), hoisting the trophy three times (2009, 2011, 2016).
Ithaca returns to the tournament as the only team to make an appearance in each of the conference's 14 tournaments. The Bombers have advanced to the title game 11 of a possible 13 times and won the title six times. Ithaca also won the title in 2000, 2001 and 2002 before the tournament was formed.
Hartwick is making its sixth appearance in the tournament and first since 2014. The Hawks will serve as the #3 seed for the second time. Hartwick has never won an E8 title but played in the final game three consecutive years (2012, 2013, 2014).
Fisher is making its 13th tournament appearance (missed 2007) and will serve as the #4 seed for the seventh time. The Cardinals have advanced to the championship game four times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2015), winning the title in 2006 and 2015. Before the tournament was formed, Fisher won the E8 title in 2003 and were co-champions in 2000.
Stevens is 8-6 overall in E8 tournament games including a 2-1 record against Fisher, 3-1 against Ithaca and 1-2 against Hartwick.
Ithaca is 3-0 against Hartwick in the tournament, 1-3 against Stevens and 8-2 against Fisher. The Bombers are 17-7 overall in the E8 tournament.
Hartwick is 2-5 in the E8 tournament, with both wins coming against Stevens. The Hawks have faced Ithaca three times but have never won and are 0-1 against Fisher.
Fisher holds a 6-10 tournament record with a 1-2 mark against Stevens, 2-8 verse ithaca and 1-0 against Hartwick.
