2016-17 Women’s Basketball All-Tournament Team
Following the Empire 8 Women’s Basketball Tournament and the naming of the Most Valuable Player, the entire 2016-17 All-tournament team has been announced.
Ithaca – Ali Ricchiuti (MVP), Julie Yacovoni
Stevens – Anna Toke
Hartwick – Emily Stone
St. John Fisher – Emily Piacentini
Ricchiuti was named the tournament MVP as she averaged 19 points and 5.5 rebounds. She shot 51.6 percent from the field on 9-of-16. In the semifinal game Ricchiuti scored 15 points and had five rebounds and four assists to propel Ithaca to its tenth straight E8 final. In the title game, she finished with a team-high 23 points and six rebounds. The 23 points matched her season high and was also her 16th game with 10 or more points.
Yacovoni averaged 14 points and five rebounds during the tournament. She posted a solid outing in the semifinal, with 12 points on 6-for-10 from the field with three rebounds and two steals. Yacovoni netted 16 points on a near perfect afternoon from the floor, going 6-for-7 with seven rebounds and two assists.
Toke averaged 15.5 points and 13.5 rebounds over the two tournament games. She shot 70.6 percent on 12-of-17 from the floor. Toke finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds against Hartwick and scored 16 points while grabbing a season-high 16 rebounds against Ithaca.
Stone scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the first half, which marked her 17
th game of the season in double-figures. She also had three assists, and two steals.
Piacentini scored a game-high 21 points in the semifinal game to go along with four rebounds. She also added three assists and a pair of steals.
