Four Corvias ECAC Athletes of the Week

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Players of the Week for the week of play ending Feb. 5 and four Empire 8 student-athletes have been recognized.
 
Men’s Basketball – Metro
Player of the Week
Evan Klimchak – Stevens Institute of Technology, Sr., G

 
Klimchak averaged 24 points on 59 percent (26-44) shooting from the field to lead the Ducks to three double-digit Empire 8 wins over Hartwick, Elmira and Ithaca. Klimchak also shot 52 percent (9-17) from three and 100 percent (11-11) from the line, in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. Klimchak has scored at least 20 points in six of Stevens' last seven games.
 
Women’s Basketball – North
Rookie of the Week
Jamie Wilcox – Alfred University, Fr., G

 
Wilcox set a new collegiate personal best with 26 points on Saturday at home against Hartwick. She shot 52.9 percent from the floor (nine-of-17), including 54.5 percent from beyond the arc (six-of-11) and a perfect two-for-two from the free throw line. Her three-pointers are a career-best in terms of shots made, shots attempted and the shooting percentage. She also set her personal best in free throws made and attempted against Ithaca on Friday, making eight-of-10 as she added two points from the floor for 10 total and a weekly average of 18.0 points per game. Wilcox tied her career-high in assists with six against Ithaca.
 
Women’s Indoor Track & Field – North
Field Athlete of the Week
Katherine Pitman – Ithaca College, Sr.

 
Pitman broke the NCAA Division III pole vault record with a mark of 4.22 meters (13 feet, 10 inches) on her first run at the Bomber Invitational & Multi last Saturday. She surpassed the previous top performance by .01 meters, which was set in 2013 at the ECAC Championships.
 
Men’s Indoor Track & Field – North
Track Athlete of the Week
Sean Phillips – Ithaca College, Sr.

 
Phillips topped the field in the mile as he clocked a time of 4:15.96, seven seconds faster than the runner-up, to set a new school record by exactly one second at the Bomber Invitational & Multi last Saturday. Phillips ranks 13th in the country with that time.
