Ayer and Griesemer Post Honorable Mention All-America Performances

The third day of the NCAA Championship came to an end and Ithaca College took part in two events, while Stevens Institute of Technology swam in one. The Bombers finished the day adding seven points to their overall team score, currently sitting in 13
th place with 65 points entering the final day of competition on Saturday.
Highlighting the day's action was Ithaca senior
Grace Ayer and junior
Nickie Griesemer, who both posted Honorable Mention All-America performances in the 100-yard breaststroke and one-meter springboard, respectively. The strong performances helped IC maintain its position amongst the Top-15 women's swimming and diving programs in the country entering the final day of competition.
Ayer posted her fourth combined All-America performance of her busy NCAA National Meet program on Friday, posting a solid time in the 100-yard breaststroke event. The senior shaved 1.44 off her seed time to come in 15
th place with a 1:03.85 during the preliminary heats in the morning. The swim earned her position in the consolation heat during the evening, in which she marked a 16
th-place time of 1:04.09. The time earned IC eight team points and Ayer her fourth All-America honor of the meet.
Joining Ayer as an Honorable Mention All-American on Friday was junior diver
Nickie Griesemer. Griesemer marked a prelim score of 371.60 to earn her spot in the consolation finals of the one-meter springboard. She improved nearly 28 points on her prelim score to mark a 399.25 during the finals, coming in 11
th place overall.
Stevens junior
Sarah Jurczyk concluded her 2016-17 season
earning 33rd place in the 200-yard butterfly race with a time of 2:07.92.
