Women’s Swimming & Diving Concludes NCAA Championships

SHENENDOAH, TEXAS – The Ithaca College and Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming and diving teams wrapped four days of action at the Conroe ISD Natatorium on Saturday. The Bombers concluded the Championships with the 17th-best score out of 44 teams on the women's side of the meet, posting 65 total points. 
 
The Bombers had two entries on the day, as senior freestyler Lake Duffy capped off her individual program with the 100-yard freestyle event. She returned with her teammates seniors Grace Ayer and Samantha Reilly, as well as junior Jaclyn Pecze for the 400-yard freestyle race. Stevens senior Danielle Caruso concluded her career in the 100-yard freestyle.
 
Duffy placed 31st in the preliminary trials of the 100 free, posting a time of 52.11, which was just slightly behind her qualifying seed time of 51.70. 

Caruso earned 41st place in the 100-yard freestyle race with a time of 52.53 seconds, which improved her seed time of 52.96 seconds.
 
IC's relay team also narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final session of the meet, coming in 20th place. The Bombers posted a time of 3:30.05. Ayer led off the race 51.94 split, while Pecze backed her with a 53.23. Reilly swam the third leg in 53.68, while Duffy took things home for Ithaca with a 51.20.
 
The 17th place showing was the Bombers' highest finish at the national meet since coming in 14th during the 2009-10 season. 
 
Postseason conference awards will be released in the coming week.
