Men's Tennis Bests Colby-Sawyer, Bloomsburg in Final Competition Day in Orlando
 
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team concluded its four-match spring break slate on Thursday, taking on Colby-Sawyer College and Bloomsburg University in a day-night doubleheader at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus in Orlando, Fla. The Bombers opened the day with a 6-3 victory over the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer, before concluding the night session with a 5-4 triumph over NCAA Division II Bloomsburg in a cross-divisional matchup.

Ithaca began the day with a comfortable victory over the Chargers to improve its record to 3-2 on the year. IC won all three doubles flights and wrapped the match up quickly during the singles portion with quick wins in the Top-2 flights to seal the match.
 
Wes Davis and Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos got IC off and running with an 8-3 victory over Ryan Sawyer and Dean Boodakian in the second flight. The tandem of Colten Lavery and Nathan Wolf doubled the advantage nearly simultaneously, besting Alex Wright and Ross Kenney by the same 8-3 score.
 
Minos Stavrakas and Michael Gardiner helped Ithaca take a strangle-hold on the match with their first of two wins as a pairing on the day. They outlasted Gustav Jigrup and Cass McCann in an 8-6 tilt to give IC a commanding 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
 
The Bombers wasted little time sealing the match after the brief intermission. Gardiner put IC within a point of clinching the match when he dominated McCann in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Stavrakas followed with a 6-3, 10-7 win in the top flight to score the clinching point. The win improved his singles record to 10-1 on the year.
 
Although Colby-Sawyer went on to score victories in the third-through-fifth flights, Stefan Lazarevic notched Ithaca's sixth team point in a 6-4, 6-4 bout over Ross Kenney in the sixth flight.

Ithaca wrapped up the daily double with a strong win against cross-divisional Bloomsburg. The match was close throughout, but IC was able to come up with the clutch points down the stretch to carry the win and a 4-2 start to the season.
 
The Bombers took two-of-three flights in the doubles portion of the match. Stavrakas and Gardiner combined to beat Bloomsburg's Gerard Puig and Steve Williams in an 8-4 decision in the top flight. The Bombers other win came in the third flight, as Nathan Wolf and Colten Lavery also won an 8-4 decision, besting Pablo Herrero and Christian Cioffi.
 
Although the Huskies briefly tied the match at 2-2 when Steve Williams downed Max Prestwich in straight sets in the fifth flight, IC retook to the advantage with wins in the first and sixth flights. Stavrakas won 6-2, 7-6 (1) in the top flight over Herrero, while Viguie-Ramos posted a pair of 7-5 set decisions to best Pedro Andari.


Ithaca clinched the match in the second-to-last pairing to finish. Wes Davis outlasted Leonardo Nakasone in a match that went the distance. Davis took the fourth-flight matchup in an 11-9 super breaker in the decisive third set.
 
Ithaca returns to action on Thursday, March 23, with a 4:00 p.m. tilt against Hobart College. Match is slated to start at 4:00 p.m. on South Hill.
