Haley DeVona scored two goals to surpass 100 for her career, helping Nazareth earn a 16-8 win over Hartwick Saturday to open up Empire 8 play. DeVona leads the Golden Flyers with 17 goals on the season.
Nazareth, winners of four straight, is now 4-2 overall and 1-0 in Empire 8 play.
Kate Rothrock had a strong day for the Golden Flyers, pouring in a season-high seven points on five goals and two assists.
The first half remained close for the first 20 minutes with a goal from the Hawks cutting the Nazareth lead to 7-5 with 8:13 remaining.
DeVona responded for Nazareth with her second goal of the game two minutes later, pushing her career total to 101 goals and giving the Golden Flyers an 8-5 margin.
Nazareth scored two more goals in the half to open up a 10-5 lead at the break. Rothrock picked up an assist to
Jamie Martin and later added her second goal of the game with :02 left in the half.
The Golden Flyers continued to stretch their lead with goals from Martin and Rothrock for a 12-5 lead.
Hartwick was held to just three goals in the second.
Martin had three goals, while
Bridget Collins chipped in two for Nazareth.
Brianna Rizzari made eight saves in net for the Golden Flyers.
