Fisher and Ithaca Ranked in IWLCA Top 20
The St. John Fisher College and Ithaca College women's lacrosse team is ranked 14th and 18th, respectively, in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll for all games through March 5.
The Cardinal's hadn't played a game yet when the poll was released on Monday, March 6 but opened its season later that day in Florida with a 19-3 win.
The Cardinals will return to action at the Spring Fling at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday when they take on Kenyon College in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Ithaca improved its record to 2-0 on the season this past Sunday, posting a dominant 16-6 victory on the road at St. Lawrence. Fifth-year senior
Ally Runyon powered the IC offense with eight points, scoring seven goals and adding one assist. She was named Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts.
The road gets tougher for Bombers this week with two contests on the docket. Ithaca opens Empire 8 play on Wednesday afternoon when Hartwick invades Higgins Stadium for a 4:00 p.m. start. IC hits the road this weekend for the first of three Top-10 matchups over a 10-day stretch when it travels to Brockport, N.Y., for a 12:00 p.m. start against the 10
th-ranked Golden Eagles.
