School Records Fall at ROC City Invite
Empire 8 track and field teams competed in the Roc City Track and Field Invitational on Sunday, hosted at Nazareth College.
St. John Fisher College's Peter Girardi broke his own personal record, the Fisher record, the facility record, and the meet record in the 400-meter dash, finishing in first place out of 69 competitors with an ECAC qualifying time of 48.16, nearly a whole second faster than the runner up.
Fisher freshman Eddie Mahana took first place in the 110-hurdles, setting a new facility and meet record. His ECAC qualifying time of 14.91 is the third-fastest time posted by a freshman this year in Division III.
Sophomore Ross Mathewson set a new personal and school record in the hammer throw, tossing for an ECAC mark of 46.65 meters, good for sixth place.
Utica sophomore Jordan Smith broke the school-record in the javelin throw with his career-best mark of 57.40 meters.
