Nazareth wins third straight in men's tennis

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth gained its third straight men's tennis victory Sunday as the Golden Flyers won five of the six singles matches in a 6-3 victory over Elmira.

The Golden Flyers also defeated Alfred and Utica earlier in the week and now stand at 4-6 overall and 3-1 in Empire 8 Conference matches. Elmira is 6-5 and 1-2.

Lamar Hurt won matches for Nazareth at first singles and first doubles. He won 6-2, 7-5 at first singles and teamed with Dan Freilicher for an 8-7 win at first doubles.

Ryley Amond and Evan Vogue gained singles points with straight-set wins. Louis Rogers won a close three-setter at second singles 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 and Jameson Keppeler took a third-set tiebreaker to win at fifth singles 6-1, 3-6, 10-4.
