Zacchigna Scores School Record 11 Goals
LANCASTER, Pa. -- Just a day after
Jennifer Zacchigna broke the school record for goals in a game with eight, the senior set a new mark with 11 goals in Houghton's 14-9 win over Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday.
Zacchigna has now scored 62 times on the season.
Chandler Jones and
Meghan Oswald each had one goal and three assists on the day.
Elizabeth Piszker also found the net one time for the Highlanders.
The Highlanders took a 6-4 lead into half time behind five Zacchigna goals, and managed to outscore the Chargers 8-5 in the second half.
Houghton had 34 shots to Lancaster Bible's 27, and the Highlanders won the draw control battle 16-9.
Sarah Olandt had nine saves in the goal for Houghton.
Lancaster Bible's Alyssa Wesner scored six times and has now scored 67 goals on the season, which is good enough for second in DIII in goals per game.
