Men's golf crowned its champion over the weekend, track and field is gearing up for its championship this coming weekend and the regular season is past the halfway point as teams compete for tournament positions. Those earning weekly honors for the week of April 10-16, 2017 include...

Baseball Player – Ithaca
Sam Little, Sophomore, OF – Syracuse, NY/CBS
 
Sophomore Sam Little helped lead Ithaca College to five wins last week including four in conference play as the team extended its winning streak to six games. Little combined to go 8-for-17 at the plate with 10 RBI and sevens runs scored. He also notched two doubles, a triple and home run for a .882 slugging percentage. Little drew five walks in the week to account for a .583 on-base percentage. Against Rochester he went 1-for-3 and a pair of runs scored before a 2-for-5 performance with four RBI against Houghton. In the three-game series against SUNY Canton, Little went 5-for-9 with five runs scored and five RBI.
 
Baseball Pitcher – Stevens
Danny Poidomani, Sophomore – Rochelle Park, NJ/Hackensack
 
Danny Poidomani turned in his best performance of the season in Stevens' 9-0 win over Elmira. The left-hander scatted just two hits over seven innings with nine strikeouts and struck out the side in his final inning of work.
 
Softball Player – Ithaca
Allie Colleran, Junior, OF – Concord, MA/Concord Carlisle
 
Allie Colleran helped Ithaca to a 6-0 record this past week, moving the Bombers to 18-6 on the year. She finished with 10 hits, 10 runs scored and 11 RBI to lead Ithaca. Recorded four homeruns in six games to help Ithaca remain in first place in the Empire 8. Best game came against Alfred on Wednesday, where she recorded three hits, three runs scored and four RBI, as well as a homerun. Led off the game against Buffalo State on Thursday with a blast to left field, putting Ithaca up 1-0 early.
 
Softball Pitcher – Houghton
Tanya Hatton, Sophomore – Greene, NY/Afton
 
Tanya Hatton tossed her first collegiate no-hitter in the Highlanders final game of the week; a 10-0 win over SUNY Canton. Hatton walked only three batters and struck out nine in the 6-inning victory.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Player – Nazareth
Seth DeLisle, Junior – Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley
 
Seth DeLisle continued his dominance at the faceoff circle in two win for the Golden Flyers as he went 33-for-44 (.750). He won 19-of-26 faceoffs, tallied a goal, and had a career-high 14 ground balls in a 21-11 win over Utica. On Saturday, he won 14-of-18 faceoffs and grabbed 11 ground balls in an 11-3 win over Hartwick.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Goalie – Nazareth
Alex Winkler, Freshman – Fort Collins, CO/Fort Collins
 
Alex Winkler helped Nazareth go 2-0, making allowing just 11 goals in 86 minutes of play. He had 16 saves on a .593 save percentage. He made seven saves in 26 minutes of action against Utica, allowing eight goals. He followed that up with nine saves and just three goals allowed in an 11-3 win over Hartwick.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Player – Houghton
Jennifer Zacchigna, Senior, Midfield – East Aurora, NY/East Aurora
 
Jennifer Zacchigna broke the school record for goals in a game and goals in a season in a 1-1 week for Houghton. Against Eastern University on Monday April 10, Zacchigna scored eight goals, breaking her own record for goals in a game and goals in a season in a 17-16 overtime loss. The next day she scored 11 goals in a 14-9 victory over Lancaster Bible to break the record for the second time in consecutive days and bring her season total to 62.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Goalie – Elmira
Lindsay Wargo, Senior – Madison, CT/Daniel Hand
 
Lindsay Wargo made eight saves in 60 minutes of action to help Elmira secure a 14-4 win over visiting Alfred University for EC's first conference win of the season. Wargo also collected two ground balls in the win. The four goals allowed were the fewest Wargo has allowed in her career in a game in which she started and played more than one half.
 
Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete – Alfred
Seth Spicer, Junior – Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post
 
Junior Seth Spicer broke the Alfred University school record in the decathlon with his third place finish on Friday at Kutztown University. The record used to be 6,403 points set by AU Hall of Famer David O’Brien back in 1987. Spicer’s new mark of 6,471 points was achieved with his two top marks of 759 points in both the 110-meter hurdles (15.77) and the 1,500-meter run (4:27.79). He also broke the 700-point mark in the 400-meter dash (51.55) and the 100-meter dash (11.69). In the field, his top score was 659 points from his efforts in the long jump (6.33 meters). Spicer finished behind SUNY Cortland’s Jack Flood and Connor Christopherson. He defeated 20 athletes from both Division III and Division II institutions.
 
Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Utica
Sam Bonk, Senior – Williamsville, NY/Clarence
 
Sam Bonk placed third in two events at the Gerry Gravel Classic. He set a new school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.95 meters and threw the shot put 14.00 meters.
 
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete – Stevens
Amy Regan, Senior – Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills
 
At the Bucknell University Outdoor Classic on Friday, Amy Regan took third overall in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:33.62, which was faster than 15 NCAA Division I runners. Regan’s time if the fastest time in Division III this season.
 
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Ithaca
Katherine Pitman, Senior –Swampscott, MA/Swampscott
 
Senior Katherine Pitman was the runner-up in the pole vault with a cleared height of 4.00 meters (13 feet, 1.5 inches) on Saturday at the Bucknell University Outdoor Classic. Pitman tied West Virginia's Maddie Gardner at 4.00 meters but finished second due to total attempts.
 
Men’s Tennis Player – Alfred
Kevin Volz, Graduate -  Olean, NY/Olean
 
Kevin Volz was undefeated on the week as the Saxons earned an Empire 8 win over Utica College on Friday, 8-1. Volz first teamed with Peter Smock in No. 1 doubles to top Christopher Dunn and Paul Litvak 8-2. He then only gave up one game in his No. 1 singles win over Dunn, 6-1, 6-0.
 
Men’s Golf Player – Stevens
Frank Szucs, Senior – Brookside, NJ/Delbarton
 
Frank Szucs became the first Steven’s golfer to earn Empire 8 Golfer of the Year honors after compiling a four-round score of 306 (75-77-78-76), earning a four-shot victory over the field at the 2017 Empire 8 Men’s Golf Championship. He was the only golfer in the championship field to shoot all four rounds under 80.
