LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lindsey Thayer of the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball team has been named the Louisville Slugger National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Pitcher of the Week as announced on Wednesday.

Thayer, who has now received the honor three times during her career at Fisher, combined to go 2-0 last week as the Wintrop native picked up her 12th and 13th wins of the season, respectively, after defeating SUNY Cortland and Houghton College.

The junior combined to throw 13.0 innings where she allowed just four total hits and one unearned run while tallying 20 strikeouts in the circle.  Against Cortland, Thayer went six strong innings and scattered two hits with six strikeouts before pitching seven shutout innings two days later with 14 strikeouts against just one walk.

Thayer, who has been named an All-American in each of her two previous seasons, currently leads the Empire 8 and ranks second in the nation with 197 strikeouts.  She leads all Division III pitchers with over 13 strikeouts per seven innings while her 14 wins is tied for the 12-most in the country.

Tuesday, against Keuka, Thayer's talent was on full display after pitching her second-career no-hitter with 18 strikeouts in a 6-0 win over the Wolves.  Earlier this month, Thayer had a perfect game going through five innings as the Cardinals combined to no-hit Elmira College in a 10-2 win.
