Saxon men’s tennis team whips SUNY Delhi

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team defeated visiting SUNY Delhi, 8-1, Sunday afternoon.
 
AU (2-3) took five of six singles matches and swept doubles play. Earning singles wins for the Saxons were: senior Kevin Volz (Olean, NY/Olean), 6-0, 7-5 in first singles; Sophomore Peter Smock (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh), 6-0, 6-2 in second singles; senior Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean), 6-0, 6-2 in third singles; sophomore Kyle Kemper (Oswego, NY/Oswego), 6-0, 3-6, 10-5 in fourth singles; and sophomore Sheldon Palmer (Cohocton, NY/Wayland-Cohocton), 6-1, 6-3 in sixth singles.
 
Volz and Brown took first doubles, 8-3; Smock and junior Mike Wisniewski (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) won second doubles, 8-0; and Kemper and Jacob Nordin (Ann Arbor, MU/Rudolf Steiner) claimed third doubles, 8-7 (7-2).
 
AU is in action next on Wednesday, April 5, at 4 p.m. at Nazareth.
