ROCHESTER, N.Y. – On Wednesday morning, a multitude of St. John Fisher College student athletes participated in "The Giant Read", an annual community service project that Fisher has been involved with.

The "Giant Read" has students from a plethora of Fisher teams visit a selected Rochester city school and read to children from grades kindergarten to second grade. The annual event is part of READ: Hope in Action Program that is designed to promote literacy in the Rochester City School District.16457

This year, 27 Cardinals from eight different teams went to Wilson Foundation Academy to participate in the event. The players read a multitude of different short stories, everything from "Bear Says Thanks" to "Who Was Muhammed Ali". After reading, the student athletes took time to color and work on other writing assignments with the children.

Organized by Fisher's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the "Giant Read" is a project that the College has been involved with for six years and is part of a much larger effort as other Rochester-area College's participate as well.
