The match was a rematch of 2016's NCAA Second Round match. The records: Stevens: 12-14; MIT: 18-4 Of note: It's the second consecutive season that MIT defeated Stevens in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Also of note: Due to a period of overnight rain, the match was moved to the indoor facility at Foreside Fitness from the Pickard Tennis Courts on Bowdoin's campus. How It Happened As they did in 2016, MIT earned victories in two of three doubles flights. The team of Bryan Lilley and Alex Cauneac moved to 12-8 with an 8-3 win over Kyle Henry and Antonio Perich at No. 1 doubles. After leading early, William Persson and Divin Sarthak hard-fought 8-6 decision at No. 3 doubles to Victor Chang and Sean Ko. Danny Polk and Michael Feldman rallied to edge Albert Go and Tyler Barr 8-6 at No. 2 doubles to give the Ducks momentum heading into the singles flights. Barr, selected to play in the NCAA Individual Championships, jumped out to an early lead at No. 1 singles, and defeated Henry in straight set. Cauneac defeated Polk in straight sets at No. 2 singles to give the Engineers a 4-1 lead in the match and Cheng pulled away from Persson down the stretch to earn a 6-3, 6-4 victory and send MIT on to the Regional Final. Ko was leading Feldman (6-3, 2-1), Go was leading Schultz (7-6, 1-2) and Kenny Gea was leading Sarthak (6-3, 5-4) when the match concluded. Singles Results Tyler Barr (MIT) def.
