Ithaca Picked as Six Seed in New York Regional; To Play No. 7 Oswego

NCAA RELEASE

ITHACA, N.Y. –
The Ithaca College baseball team will remain close to home and play at a familiar venue for the upcoming six-team NCAA Division III New York Regional, as the Bombers were selected as the No. 6 seed and will play top seeded SUNY Oswego – ranked No. 7 in the country – in the opening round at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, N.Y. on Thursday.

Game times for the regional have not been determined at this time.

Ithaca (28-11), the Empire 8 Conference champions, will be making its 46th all-time appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship after earning the conference's first-ever automatic bid. The Bombers defeated No. 14 St. John Fisher College, 10-6, on May 13 in Pittsford, N.Y. in the Empire 8 final.

Oswego (28-8), the SUNYAC automatic qualifer after the conference tournament was canceled due to inclement weather, will be making its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

No. 2 seed Southern Maine University (30-11), ranked 20th in the nation, earned an at-large bid out of the Little East Conference and will take on No. 5 Castleton University (34-8), winners of the North Atlantic Conference in the opening round.

The other first round matchup features No. 3 The College of New Jersey (31-11), the nation's 19th-ranked program and the automatic qualifier out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, and No. 4 Tufts University (30-8-1), which won the New England Small College Athletic Conference and is ranked 13th nationally.
