14 Named IWLCA All-Region

The IWLCA has honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2017. Fourteen Empire 8 student-athletes have been named to the teams, with four selected to the Boardwalk Region and ten to the Empire Region. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Friday, May 19. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American Banquet on Saturday June 3, 2017 at the Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Md.

First Team - Boardwalk Region
Kyra Bednarski, Stevens: named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year Thursday, started all 18 games for the Ducks and registered a goal in every game this season. The Syracuse, New York native finished the season with 51 goals and 30 assists. Her 81 points placed fourth in the Empire 8 conference and 46th in Division III. 

Victoria Alvarez, Stevens: the second IWLCA postseason honor for the Pine Beach, N.J. native, who also earned First Team status in 2016. The junior drew 18 starts and helped anchor a defensive unit that allowed the second-fewest goals (117) in the conference and ranked 16th nationally in scoring defense, allowing 6.50 goals per game. Alvarez picked up her first career against Elmira on April 19.

Second Team - Boardwalk Region
Kathleen Kalbian, Stevens: earned her third-straight All-Boardwalk Region honor after being named to the First Team as a junior and to the Second Team as a sophomore. The Chesire, Connecticut native started all 18 games and finished third on the team in goals (31) and points (38), while concluding her career among the program's all-time leaders in goals (140), points (194), caused turnovers (94), ground balls (208) and draw controls (295). 

Stephanie Schnelzer, Stevens: the first IWLCA postseason honor for the junior goalie. The Carmel, Indiana native went 13-5 in net with a 6.89 goals against average and a .448 save percentage. Her 6.89 GAA placed third in the Empire 8 conference and 21st nationally and her 4.83 saves per game ranked ninth in the conference. Schnelzer also earned two Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Fastbreak Goalie of the Week awards.
 
First Team - Empire Region
Ally Runyon, Ithaca: has had a truly magical season in leading Ithaca's prolific attacking unit. She is the first player in program history to hit the 60-goal and 80-point milestones in the same season. The Fairport, N.Y., product has re-wrote the program's record book during the year, becoming the program's all-time leading goal scorer both for a single season and a career, with the marks currently sitting at 69 and 211, respectively. She also is tied for second on the program's all-time point list, equaling Michelle Schlegel '04 (248) with her five-goal effort in the Bombers' thrilling 11-10 overtime win over Wesleyan University in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Runyon's career totals sit at 211 goals, 37 assists and 248 points through 72 career games. She needs three points in order to tie Tracy Rivas '14 who holds the program's record for career points. Runyon was named Empire 8 Player of the Year in addition to being named to the Empire 8 All-Conference First Team for the third time during her career this past week. Friday's announcement by the IWLCA also marks the third time that she has been named an All-Region First Team selection during her standout career on South Hill.
 
Molly Long, Ithaca: has been a lockdown defender in the Bombers' own half of the field all season. She ranks second on the squad with 26 caused turnovers and 35 ground-balls on the year. The Ithaca, N.Y., native racked up seven games with multiple caused turnovers, while she swiped five in a game twice during the season. She helped the Bombers become one of the stingiest defenses in the Empire 8 and the region, allowing an average of 7.77 goals-per-game.
 
The All-Region accolade is the second of Long's career, as she was picked a Second Teamer last season. This is the first time she has been an All-Region First Team honoree. Like Runyon, Long also was named an All-Conference First Team selection this past week, the second straight season she has been tabbed as one of the league's top defenders.

Jordan Johnson, St. John Fisher: Johnson had a career year in 2017, eclipsing not only a plethora of her personal records, but also surpassing a few school records as well. The senior set new season highs for goals (57) and assists (54), while her 111 points set a new Fisher record for points in a single season. Johnson also become the College's all-time leader in assists as she has accumulated 122 helpers in her career.  

On two different occasions this year, the Canandaigua native also set a new personal record for points in a game. Johnson notched 10 points (6G, 4A) against Roanoke in the season opener before hitting the 10-point mark again against Morrisville State in the NCAA First Round.

Second Team - Empire Region
Morgan Cadwell, Ithaca:  has put together a solid senior campaign for the Bombers, ranking fourth on the team with 36 points on 28 goals and eight assists. The strong two-way presence has been dynamite on the draw with 36 controls, while she has also chipped in seven caused turnovers and 13 ground-balls. The senior scored a hat trick to help spark the comeback in the Bombers' NCAA Tournament victory over Wesleyan this past weekend. The effort elevates her career points total to 145. It is the second straight season that she was been tabbed an All-Region Second Team honoree, while she was an Empire 8 All-Conference First Team selection for the second straight year as well.

Haley DeVona, Nazareth: earns a nod on the second team for the third consecutive season after leading the Golden Flyers with 45 goals in 2017.  For the season, she contributed 56 points with 11 assists to her name.  DeVona contributed at least one point in all 17 games and notched a career-high eight points in a 19-7 win over Houghton on five goals and three assists.   Over her three seasons, DeVona has tallied 129 goals to rank ninth on the all-time scoring list. 

Nicole DeVona, Nazareth: offered extreme versatility in her midfield position over two seasons for Nazareth.  She led the Golden Flyers in draw controls (46), ground balls (38), and caused turnovers (18) in her senior season.  The Minoa, NY native also was fifth on the team with 23 goals, to go along with three assists.

Maggie Notter, Utica: making her first career appearance on the all-region team.  A senior captain this season, she finished second in the E8 in both ground balls per game (3.50) and caused turnovers per game (2.43).  Her total of 34 caused turnovers this year rank third in the College's single-season record book.  She wraps up her career ranked fourth all-time with 81 caused turnovers.

Allie Panara, Ithaca: has been a breakout player for IC during her sophomore campaign, earning IWLCA All-Region recognition for the first time in her career. She has set new career highs across the board with 66 points on 34 goals and 32 assists. She is just two points shy of cracking the Top-10 list for single-season points in program history, while her 32 helpers ranks sixth-best for a single-season all-time. The Pittsford, N.Y., product was an Empire 8 All-Conference Second Team selection for the second straight season.
 
Kimberly Presuto, Ithaca: was named the Empire 8's Goalie of the Year for the second consecutive season this past week. She had a truly excellent year in taking over the full-time starting job after splitting time in the net during her first two seasons on South Hill. Presuto has set new career highs, marking 108 saves and 12 victories between the posts in 2017. She enters the weekend with an 8.22 goals-against average and .480 save percentage. The junior made eight saves, which included a huge stop at the end of regulation to force overtime in the Bombers win over the Cardinals on Sunday. The IWLCA All-Region honor is the first of her Ithaca career.

Andrea Stekl, Nazareth: a defender who finished second on the team in ground balls (32) and caused turnovers (15).  She also had 21 draw controls to her name.  On Senior Day against Alfred, Stekl scored her first collegiate goal and added another later on in the contest.
