Get to Know: Gail Mann

Gail Mann is the women’s soccer coach at Nazareth College.
Where did you attend college? I attended SUNY Cortland was as a physical education major. I played on the women’s soccer team for four years.
What made you chose to attend SUNY Cortland? I was recruited to play soccer and I had a few friends that were on the team. And Cortland has a great physical education major.
How long have you been at Nazareth College? 24 years
What brought you to Nazareth? I was an assistant coach at Brockport for five years and the position opened. The previous coach thought I would be a good candidate so I applied because I was ready to be a head coach.
What is the best thing about the Nazareth Campus? Its beauty and the athletic facilities; especially the soccer facility.
What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear ‘Nazareth’? Family
Who has been the most influential person during your career? Joan Schockow. She was the long time head coach at Brockport. She went to Cortland was three years older than me and she was able to secure coaching positions and I was her assistant. I got a lot of opportunity for experience because of her.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Golf, yard work, take my dogs for a walk, work out.
Top three things on your bucket list?
London, EPL game and Italy.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I play the guitar.
