Spicer finishes 11th in NCAA Division III Outdoor Decathlon Championships

Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) of the Alfred University men's track and field team wrapped up his stellar 2016-17 year by finishing 11th out of 20 competitors at the NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the decathlon on Friday.
Spicer managed to pick up 709 points in the 110-meter hurdles to start the day off despite getting caught up on the last hurdle. He finished with a time of 16.21. Next, he hit a personal best in the discus throw with a toss of 38.82 meters (127'-4") to earn 641 points on the day. The third event was the pole vault in which Spicer hit another personal best with a height of 4.00 meters (13'-1.5") for 617 points.
In the final two events, Spicer scored just 396 points in the javelin but then posted his top mark of the day with 710 points in the 1,500-meter run but running a 4:35.2.
