Girardi Hits All-America Podium in Two Events at NCAAs

Geneva, OhioPeter Girardi of the St. John Fisher College men's track and field team competed in the finals in two events on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Mount Union College at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Girardi hit the All-America Podium in both events, finishing sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a new Fisher record time of 14.34. He would then go on to finish the national runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 52.00.

The two All-America finishes caps a season that saw championship titles at the Empire 8 Championships and NYSCTC Championships. The junior took first in the 400-meter dash at the Empire 8 Championships, and placed first in the 400-hurdles at the NYSCTC Championships, setting a new Championship meet record. Midway through the outdoor season, he posted the DIII best time in the 400-hurdles, which he held for several weeks. Going into the NCAA Championships, Girardi held the third fastest 400-dash time and tied for the ninth best 110-hurdles time. The Cicero native was also given Atlantic All-Region honors in three events this season in the 110-hurdles, 400-hurdles, and 400-dash.
