2017 Women's Lacrosse Tournament Quick Facts

The 2017 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Women's Lacrosse Tournament is set to take place this weekend, with four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship. The playoffs begin Saturday, May 6 with two semifinal matches held on the campus of top-seeded Ithaca College and the Championship will take place on Sunday, May 7.

Tournament History | Past E8 Champions

Before the action begins, here are some quick facts you should know about the conference tournament. (*Quick facts will be based on the current tournament format years 2004-2017).
 
The Empire 8 will employ a four team tournament format for the 14th straight year. Prior to the 2004 tournament, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
 
For the sixth straight year, the same four teams have qualified for the E8 Tournament. 
 
The tournament has played out according to seeding twice (2004 and 2005).

Ithaca will serve as the No. 1 seed for the second straight year and seventh time overall.

The #1 seed is 10-3 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (9-4), #3 seed (4-9), #4 seed (3-10).
 
The #1 seed has won the conference championship four times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2011).

The #2 seed has won the title five times (2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015)
 
The #3 seed has won the title once (2016).

The #4 seed has won the title twice (2008, 2009).

Ithaca has played in the championship game ten times and won on two occassions (2004 & 2008). The Bombers finished as the runner-up the last seven years.

Stevens has made the conference tournament each year since joining the Empire 8 in the 2007-08 season and won the championship in 2010 and 2011. 

Nazareth won the E8 championship in 2005 and 2006. 

St. John Fisher is the five-time defending champion and looking for its eighth title in program history.

Ithaca is 12-9 in E8 post-season play with a 1-6 mark against Fisher, 7-1 aganist Nazareth and 3-2 against Stevens. 

Stevens is 5-7 all-time in the tournament with a 2-3 record against Ithaca and 1-4 mark against Fisher. The Ducks have never played the Golden Flyers in the post-season. Stevens last win in the E8 tournament was in 2011.

Nazareth is 6-11 all-time in tournament games including 1-7 against Ithaca, 1-3 against Fisher and they have never played Stevens. The Golden Flyers last won an E8 Tournament game in 2007.

Fisher is 14-4 in the post season, including a 3-1 record against Nazareth, 6-1 against Ithaca and 4-1 against Stevens.  The Cardinals currently have a ten game win streak in the conference tournament.
