Fisher Wins Sixth Straight Empire 8 Title! 5/7/2017 3:04:00 PM ITHACA, N.Y. - For the sixth-straight year, Linda Michele has led the St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team to an Empire 8 conference title, this time by defeating the second-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology, 10-3, on a gloomy Sunday afternoon. Fisher has now won eight straight games and holds a 14-4 record. With the victory, the squad has also earned its sixth-straight bid to the Division III NCAA Championship. Fisher was the last team to do it as it defeated RIT, 10-9, eight years ago. The three goals allowed also ties a finals record that was set by the Cardinals in 2014. It was another hot start for Fisher as the team netted the contest's first three goals in just the first 6:46. There wasn't much more offense from after that as both teams collected a pair of goals before the intermission. The second half continued to be all Cardinals as Fisher continued to smother the Ducks' offense. The Cardinal and Gold tucked away two in the half's first ten minutes, thanks to rips from Jamie Wallace and Jordan Johnson. Stevens made its last appearance on the scoresheet with 17:54 mark, with Fisher piling up three more goals before the whistle to end regulation. As a squad, the Cardinals dominated the offensive possessions as they outshot their opponents 22-7. Claire Bollin led all players on the field with her second-straight four goal performance. Johnson also aided in the effort with two goals to go along with two assists. Turning in one-goal outings were Cori Holbrook, Morgan Young, Kelsie Schindler and Wallace. Bollin, who ended the day with Most Valuable Player honors, continued to shine on the draw, controlling a team-high six on the afternoon. Morgan Hayes earned the start in net for Fisher, just the fifth time of her career she's gotten the call. The freshman did well, turning aside two Duck shots and keeping her record clean (5-0).
