Golden Flyers making 22nd tournament appearance

Tournament bracket
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's Empire 8 Conference champion men's lacrosse team will travel to Maryland Wednesday for a first-round game against Stevenson in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Nazareth, 11-8 overall, was included in the 34-team field after gaining an automatic berth by winning the E8 Conference tournament with overtime wins over Ithaca and Stevens. Stevenson, 13-5 overall, won the MAC Commonwealth Conference and also gained an automatic berth.

If successful Wednesday, the next round is Saturday, possibly at RIT. The Tigers play Wednesday against the winner of a play-in game between John Carroll and Albion.

Nazareth is making its 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance and 10th under the direction of head coach Rob Randall.

Nazareth visited Stevenson earlier this season to compete in the annual Mustang Classic, but the two teams did not meet. Common opponents this season are RIT, York and Stevens. Stevenson lost to all three, while Nazareth lost to RIT and York and defeated Stevens twice, including the E8 title game Saturday.
