IWLCA/Zag Sports Honor Eight Teams and 29 Individuals
GRAND LAKE, Colo. -- Eight Empire 8 women's lacrosse teams earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/Zag Sports
Academic Honor Squad recognition. A combined 300 Division I, II, III and NAIA institutions garnered Academic Honor Squad accolades from the IWLCA for their outstanding success in the classroom in 2016-17. In order to qualify for this prestigious honor, a team must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The Empire 8 teams that landed on this year's list included - Elmira College, Hartwick College, Houghton College, Ithaca College, Nazareth College, St. John Fisher College, Stevens Institute of Technology and Utica College.
In addition to the Academic Honor Squad award, the IWLCA named 29 Empire 8 student-athletes to its Division III
Academic Honor Roll.
The IWLCA honored 531 student-athletes from 156 different institutions on the 2017 IWLCA/Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student, and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater.
