HOBOKEN, N.J. (August 14, 2017) – Stevens Institute of Technology director of athletics Russell Rogers announced that Charles Papendick has been tapped as the new head men's golf coach for the 2017-18 school year.

Papendick has been a member of Old Tappan Golf Club located in Old Tappan NJ, Bergen County for 15 years. He has served as Men's Club President for three terms, as well as treasurer and secretary. He has served as handicap chairman in 2016, and tournament co-chair in 2017.

He has been Club Champion on four occasions: 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. He competed in various USGA mid-amateur qualifying tournaments, as well as the New Jersey State Golf Association tournaments such as the NJ State Open. He also has competed in the Metropolitan Golf Association IKE tournament on 3 occasions. He competed in the Bergen County Amateur for over 15 years.

"Becoming head golf coach at Stevens is a dream come true for me," said Papendick. "As someone who is passionate about golf and passionate about relating my love for the sport to others, I commit to giving it my best each and every day through work ethic and a positive attitude. I love working with players and look forward to establishing a lasting rapport with them as people. This opportunity is not a job to me; it is a chance to use the mentoring and relationship building skills I've developed over years being successful in the business world and bridging them to the golf team at Stevens Institute of Technology.

In addition to his playing experience, Papendick has worked closely with the United States Golf Association coordinating and correcting issues regarding course re-ratings for the Old Tappan Golf Club, taking appropriate actions to implement the changes and then explaining the changes to membership.

In 2009 and 2013, Papendick assisted at the US Open in scoring operations at Bethpage and Merion, respectively.

As a college athlete, Papendick was a successful pitcher at Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University. He returned to his alma mater, Don Bosco Prep, and coached baseball there for three seasons after his baseball playing career came to an end.

Papendick resides in Westwood, New Jersey.
