Fans can now watch E8 games in living rooms using custom apps

ROCHESTER, NY - In a continued effort to enhance coverage of our student-athletes, the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, in partnership with Stretch Internet, is pleased to announce that fans can now access content from E8 member institutions through custom applications on Apple TV, Amazon Fire and Android TV. A Roku app will also be available in the near future.

“We are thrilled to offer Empire 8 contests on the app platform,” said Empire 8 Commissioner Chuck Mitrano.  “We are constantly looking for ways to increase exposure of the exceptional play of our member institutions and student-athletes. Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Android TV and Roku have a tremendous following and we are pleased to partner with Stretch Internet to bring this to our fans and families.”

The custom apps will provide fans a seamless way to access content directly on their televisions with no need to “relay” or “cast” the stream from tablets, phones, or desktop computers. Users can access the content simply by searching for “Empire 8” on the app interfaces on any of the compatible devices, and then downloading the free app.

Using the professionally-designed, intuitive interface, fans can easily view a conference-wide schedule of live, upcoming, and on-demand broadcasts, or filter by a specific school.

“Today’s fans want to watch content on their terms,” said Stretch Internet President & CEO Ryan Ermeling. “Providing a full suite of professionally designed over-the-top apps for the Empire 8 Conference allows their fans to enjoy a seamless TV-like experience while watching their favorite schools and teams. We’re thrilled to offer this experience for the conference and their institutions,” Stretch Internet President and CEO Ryan Ermeling.

The apps will air all content that can also be found on Empire8.TV (https://portal.stretchinternet.com/empire8/) - the online streaming home of live and on-demand Empire 8 competition.

In 2016-17, Empire8.TV streamed over 1,000 live events, including many broadcasts in high definition. The conference had 59 streamed events that had 500 or more viewers who accessed the stream at any point during the broadcast including 14 events with over 1,000 viewers.
