HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 26, 2017) – Stevens Institute of Technology assistant athletic director Emily Kaczmarek, who was assistant coach of Stevens softball from 2013-15, has been announced as the new head coach of the Duck softball program by director of athletics Russell Rogers following a national search.

Kaczmarek will continue in her role as assistant athletic director for administration, a post she has held since Spring of 2015. As an administrator, Kaczmarek oversees the finances of the department.

"Since her arrival at Stevens, Emily has done exceptional work both as an administrator and coach. Her knowledge of the sport of softball; outstanding work ethic, and strong rapport with our student-athletes combined to make her appointment as our new head coach a perfect fit. I look forward to working with Emily in both of her roles and providing any support I can to help our softball program thrive in all aspects of the student-athlete experience."

In her role as assistant softball coach, Kaczmarek played an integral part of the Ducks' rise toward being a regional power, including a program-record 30 win season in 2014. During that record-setting campaign, the Ducks set 19 program standards - including several hitting categories, which was Kaczmarek's concentration. The Ducks followed it up in 2015 with 27 wins while setting program records in slugging percentage, on base percentage and walks. In 2017, the Ducks were ranked in the national Top-25 for the first time in program history.

"I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to head the softball program here at Stevens while continuing in my capacity as an assistant athletic director," said Kaczmarek. "These student-athletes are some of the hardest working, most driven student-athletes I have been around and I am excited to work with them in this new role. I am grateful to Russ Rogers and the administration for allowing me the opportunity to return to the diamond."

Kaczmarek first came to Stevens in January of 2013 as an intern before receiving her master degree in sport management from St. John's University in 2013. A 2011 graduate of East Stroudsburg University, Kaczmarek was a member of the softball team while receiving a B.S. in exercise physiology.
