LILBURN, GA – The head coach of the Alfred University women's basketball team, Monique McLean, was elected to become a representative on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America Committee on Tuesday.

Coach McLean will represent Region II of the WBCA for the next four calendar years. Her responsibilities will include:
  • Closely follow the top coaches in the region
  • Assist tracking nominations and membership voting from head coaches in the region to ensure good participation
  • Participate on the selection call to discuss all nominees and select the WBCA Coaches' All-America Team and the Player of the Year winner

"I am extremely honored and excited to serve on this committee and continue to represent Alfred University and the women's basketball program in a positive way," Coach McLean said. "It is an extremely exciting time at Alfred University and we all are working hard to get our name out there and to brand ourselves. Any opportunity that allows me to be a part of the conversation when discussing great players and coaches is definitely something that I value and want to be a part of. I am looking forward to working with all of the coaches in Region II and making sure our players get the recognition they deserve."

Coach McLean is entering her third year at the helm of the Saxon women's basketball program. In December of 2016, she was featured as the Empire 8 Get To Know Staff Member of the month. (Click Here For Video)
