The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has announced that four student-athletes in two different sports have been recognized for outstanding play during the week of Dec. 25-31, 2017.... 

Men’s Basketball Player – Nazareth
Tyler Stenglein, Senior, Guard – Rochester, NY/Irondequoit
 
Tyler Stenglein averaged 23.5 points eight rebounds and four assists in a 1-1 week for Nazareth. Scored a season-best 31 points (11-for-25), grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists in a loss to Manhattanville Thursday. He then scored 16 points against Elizabethtown on Friday to push his career point total to 1,000, becoming to 23rd Nazareth player to hit that feat. He was 5-for-11, with 11 rebounds and six assists in Nazareth's 69-53 win.
 
Men’s Basketball Rookie – Houghton
Carter Price, Freshman, Guard – Unalaska, AK/Unalaska
 
Carter Price played a season-high 23 minutes, after averaging nine minutes in the previous eight games of the season and it paid off.  Price contributed a season-high 15 points on 5-of-8 from the three-point line against Geneseo on Dec. 30.
 
Women’s Basketball Player – St. John Fisher
Caroline Robertson, Senior, Forward - Glen Head, NY/North Shore
 
Caroline Robertson of the St. John Fisher College women's basketball team established a new career-high on Saturday in a 79-66 win over The College at Brockport in the team's lone contest of the week. Robertson scored a career-best 28 points while shooting 10-of-12 (.833) from the floor. The Glen Head native added seven rebounds including three on the offensive glass along with two assists, a blocked shot and a steal. Robertson was also efficient from the free throw line as she converted 5-of-7 attempts.
 
Women’s Basketball Rookie – Hartwick
Kelly Pine, Freshman, Forward – Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls
 
Kelly Pine averaged 9.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in a pair of contests at the Bowdoin College Coastal Classic in Brunswick, ME on Friday and Saturday. On Friday against Hunter, Pine scored eight points and tied for a game-high with 11 rebounds. She added an assist, a blocked shot, and a steal. The next day against #12 Bowdoin, Pine went 4-of-6 from the floor for 10 points. She went 2-of-3 from the free-throw line, grabbed six rebounds, with an assist, a block, and a steal.
