Hartwick Earns NADIIIAA Community Service Award
WESTLAKE, OH – The National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) recently announced the recipients of this year's NADIIIAA Community Service Awards. Hartwick was the winner in the "One-Time Projects" category.
The awards program, established in 2001, is sponsored by the NADIIIAA and is intended to recognize the many contributions Division III student-athletes regularly make to their campuses and local communities. Recognition is given for projects in three categories: One-Time Projects (Hartwick College), An Array of Projects (Oberlin College), and Ongoing Projects (Aurora University).
Hartwick received the distinction due to the work of the Hawks' field hockey program. Hartwick field hockey student-athlete
Maxine Dunn, with support from Head Coach
Anna Meyer, and her teammates created the "Hartwick Field Hockey Goals for Gus" fundraiser. Maxine met and gave swim lessons to a little boy named Gus, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Maxine and the team raised money through sponsorship, donations, letter writing, and hosting a game for Gus. Duchenne is the number one genetic killer of children in the world with no cure. Click
