Empire 8 Summit Set for Jan. 26-27
The annual Empire 8 Student-Athlete Summit is being held at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa in Fairport, NY. The event will run Friday evening, January 26th through Saturday afternoon, January 27th.
This year’s Summit is once again focused on bringing together members of the higher education community from around the conference (student-athletes, Administrators, Coaches and Vice-Presidents) in a fun and educational environment away from campus.
The Empire 8 is pleased that Dr. Nancy Kaplan will be serving as the Keynote speaker and will be delivering a powerful message about Diversity and Inclusion on Friday night, following by a presentation no Title IX and Sexual Assault on Saturday morning.
Dr. Kaplan serves as Associate Provost for Academic Support Services and External Academic Partnerships at St. John’s University. As part of her responsibilities, Dr. Kaplan oversees the Student Development Program for the University’s Division I Student-Athletes.
Outside St. John’s, Dr. Kaplan presents nationally on topics related to Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership, Title IX, Social Media Responsibility, Bullying Prevention, and Personal Branding. She has worked with professional and collegiate athletes and organizations, all ages and grade levels of children and teachers, corporations, and members of Law Enforcement.
Summit attendees will also be taking part in a presentation by Sage Director of Athletics, Sandy Augestine-Collins, on core values, good teammates and leadership.
In addition to the presentations, the student-athletes will also participate in the Minute-to-Win-it challenge and each school will be making their donation of Pop Tabs to the Ronald McDonald House.
