Athletes of the Week: Jan. 1-7, 2018

The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has announced that four student-athletes in two different sports have been recognized for outstanding play during the week of Jan. 1-7, 2018.... 

Men’s Basketball Player – Houghton
Dylan Lambert, Junior, Guard – Amherst, NY/Williamsville North
 
Dylan Lambert averaged 24.33 points, 5.67 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three games for Houghton. He shot 23-for-44 (.52%) from the floor and 19-of-20 (.95%) from the free throw line.  Against Alfred, Lambert finished with 28 points and four assists. He totaled a team-high 30 points against Stevens as he shot 9-of-13 from the floor (.692) and grabbed nine rebounds on Friday before bouncing back to close out the week with 15 points and six boards against Hartwick on Saturday.
 
Men’s Basketball Rookie – Stevens
Alec Dipietrantonio, Freshman, Forward – Mt. Laurel, NJ/Bishop Eustace
 
Alec Dipietrantonio averaged 10 points per game while knocking down 13-of-21 (.619) from the field in a 3-0 week for the Ducks. He scored four points and grabbed seven rebounds against Elmira on Tuesday before knocking down a career high 22 points on 9-of-13 from the floor against Houghton on Friday night. He then made 2-of-3 in nine minutes of play against Alfred on Saturday.
 
Women’s Basketball Player – Stevens
Megan Brown, Senior, Forward – Laurel, MD/Laurel
 
Megan Brown averaged 17 points and 11.6 rebounds as Stevens opened Empire 8 play with victories over Elmira, Houghton and Alfred. Brown also totaled 16 assists, four steals and three blocks, while shooting 53 percent (17-for-32) from the field. The senior forward also added 17 points from the free throw line. Brown opened her week with an 18-point, eight-rebound, eight-assist performance in a come-from-behind win over Elmira. The forward then added 17 points and nine boards against Houghton and closed out her week with her third double-double of the season, 17 points and a career-high-matching 18 rebounds, against Alfred.
 
Women’s Basketball Rookie – Sage
Madasyn Bush, Freshman, Forward – Pottersville, NY/North Warren
 
Madasyn Bush averaged 18 points and six rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Gators. She was red-hot from the floor shooting 76.5% (13-of-17) and made 10-of-13 from the line (77%).  She poured in a career-high 22 points on Tuesday against Nazareth as Sage won its first E8 game of the season. On Saturday, she was the high scorer against Elmira with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
