CLOSER LOOK
Malinowski helped lead the Ducks to the Empire 8 title as she posted a perfect 8-0 mark at No. 1 singles this fall. The freshman was also a part of Stevens' No. 1 doubles team which went 11-0 during the fall season. Stevens win in the E8 Championship match has earned them a spot in next spring's NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship field.
Malinowski's coach, Steve Gachko, was tabbed the E8 Coach of the Year by his peers. Gachko led the Ducks to the conference title earlier this fall as they defeated Nazareth, 5-4, in a thrilling championship final. Not only has Gachko mentored Malinowski, but in total, eight of his student-athletes were honored with league accolades today. It's the tenth coach of the year award he's been selected for during his time at Stevens.
One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2018 Women's Tennis Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
