Empire 8 Women's Golf Championship to Take Place this Weekend

The 2018 Empire 8 Conference's Women's Golf Championship will take place this Saturday and Sunday at the Ballston Spa Country Club in Ballston Spa, N.Y. Utica College will serve as the host institution for this year's two-day event. Round one will begin on Saturday and the championship will culminate on Sunday afternoon.
Participants
Eight women's golf programs joined the Empire 8 Conference as affiliate members prior to the start of the 2017-18 season. This year's championship will feature 11 women's golf programs taking to the links: SUNY Canton, SUNY Cortland, Husson, Johnson & Wales, Keuka, Nazareth, Rhode Island, St. John Fisher, Suffolk, Utica, and Westfield State.
Empire 8 Championship History
This weekend's event marks the tenth installment of the Empire 8's annual championship. SUNY Cortland won last year's championship, posting a team total of 682 last fall. The Dragons were led by
Tiffany Schapira,
pictured, who earned medalist honors following her two-day score of 164. The top five finishers were all Cortland student-athletes as the Dragons impressed on their way to the 2017 title.
Empire 8 All-Conference
The top five finishers will be named Empire 8 First Team selections, with the next five student-athletes earning Second Team accolades.
